Committed to keeping our students safe

Brisbane Catholic Education is serious about ensuring safe, supportive and inclusive communities, where all students can grow and thrive.

  • The safety and well-being of students and adults-at-risk is paramount, and we have zero tolerance for abuse and exploitation.
  • We all have a role to play to ensure students are safe and feel safe – safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and its embedded in all that we do.
  • BCE has a new Safeguarding Policy Framework, which clarifies our approach to safeguarding. Further information about how we safeguard students is also found in our revised Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy (CYRMS). Printed copies of both documents are available at the school office.
  • The Safeguarding Policy Framework applies to key adults who engage with BCE Schools, including parent volunteers.
  • If you have concerns or worries about a student, you can contact CTK School's identified Student Protection Contacts: Mr Damien Sullivan, Mrs Suzannah Halpin and Ms Teagan Reilly by telephoning the school office on 07 3379 7872.

Use of social media by parents and caregivers

As a way of building community, some Parent Class Representatives have organised Messenger or WhatsApp groups to share activities and social events. We warmly welcome parents to use social media as a way of connecting with other families and strengthening our community. We must ask, however, that all comments remain positive and that it not be a place where others are critiqued in a public forum.

Teaching is a challenging profession, with ever-increasing demands, and must have the support of families and school communities. Any concerns that parents have with school matters should be taken up with the teacher through the official school channels of an email, a phone call or face-to-face meetings rather than posting on social media. If you feel an issue needs further discussion, please make time to speak wtih me or another member of the school leadership team.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Parking before school

A reminder for our parents, particularly for families with children in younger grades, that our Pick-up and Drop-off area on Addison Road is not for parking. Unfortunately, in recent weeks we have been seeing more family members of our younger students park in this area causing frustrations for other drivers.

From 7am to 9am and 2pm to 4pm this area is signed as a Loading Zone therefore drivers must stay with their vehicles. If you need to walk your child into school, please drive around the corner to find a park in Churchill Street. This way our Stop, Drop and Go Zone can keep flowing and won’t be disrupted for other families.

Thanks to all families for your support in keeping all our families safe.

Have a wonderful fortnight,

Damien

Prayer

Spanning across the six weeks of Lent, Project Compassion brings thousands of schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for the most marginalised communities around the world.

Let us pray for those who live in poverty and experience hardship. May God, through the generosity of people like you and me, feed the hungry and clothe the naked. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Amen
